Carraldus was a knight in the order of Trinity. He chased the Prophet to the north on the ship called Maria Adula. When the captain wanted to turn back, Carraldus took control of the ship. He forced the sailors to sail as far into the tributaries they could, and when they could go no further, he ordered the building of a sled, and forced the sailors to tow the ship on land. Carraldus wanted to use the ship's cannons against the people of the Prophet. He also ordered his soldiers to stockpile food, while the sailors starved. When the ice gave way and broke the ship in half in a Glacial Cavern, Carraldus planned on advancing on foot. He died shortly after writing his last journal entry, because the ship's captain had poisoned his food out of revenge.
