Early Life[]

Prior to John's birth, his grandfather and father were under the service of the seemingly ageless Sophia Leigh of Sophia Leigh Incorporated (SLinc). From an early age, John learned to remorselessly take the lives of others for the ends of his employer.
Run-In with Lara Croft[]

In 1998, Lara Croft was searching for the Eye of Isis meteorite artefact in London which she had learned had been stolen from a museum many years ago and was presently in possession of SLinc. Atop St Paul's Cathedral, John had Lara fixed in the sights of his laser sighted sniper rifle also equipped with a silencer. He opened fire, narrowly missing her. Lara returned fire with her Dual Pistols and began to make her way to the cathedral. Surprising him from around the corner, Lara shot the rifle out of John's grip. After a short brawl, Lara began questioning the man, who struggled to hear her due to the loud, ringing bell. He told her that he was working for Sophia Leigh, to kill people for her and that his father and grandfather had done the same. Lara then asks how old Sophia is. He replies that she is in her late twenties or early thirties. John grabs his rifle again, prompting Lara to aim her pistols once more as a warning. He explains that, for deadly people such as Lara, he gets money added to his wages and that he could possibly retire from killing her. Lara, noticing the bell swinging back towards him, advises him to mind the bell. Noticing it, John attempts to avoid it, but gets struck and falls to his presumed death while Lara wishes him a happy retirement.
