Judith Gibbins is an English actress. She voiced Lara Croft in Tomb Raider II and Tomb Raider III: Adventures of Lara Croft.
When cast in the role of Lara for Tomb Raider II, Judith worked as a care worker, and took part in local community productions as an actress.[1] Judith's brother, Martin Gibbins, was a programmer at Core Design. After Shelley Blond declined to reprise her role as Lara in the sequel, Judith was asked to audition with eight other women and was later cast in the role. Eidos Interactive required Judith to remain quiet about her involvement in the game, as they wanted to keep her voice a mystery and further the idea that Lara was a real person.[2]
Judith provided Lara's voice for several promotional events and media, including E3 1997. She auditioned to play Lara for a third time in Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation, but was replaced by Jonell Elliott. Judith has since given several interviews about her time in the role, and has expressed great fondness for the experience. In a 2017 interview, Judith stated that she dreamed to play Lara once again having gained more knowledge as an actor.
Judith, alongside Shelley Blond, Jonell Elliott and Keeley Hawes, returned to play Lara Croft in Tomb Raider Reloaded. Judith, Shelley and Jonell's voices would be selectable for a limited time at launch. Images of the three recording together in the studio were released as part of the 25th Anniversary celebrations.
