High Priest of HorusEdit

"I Semerkhet, high priest of Horus, forewarn that he who removes the amulet shall have released Set."

Semerkhet, in his tomb's hieroglyphics at Karnak, was described as serving the god of light, Horus, during the time of plagues. Semerkhet was present when the god Set had been outwitted by Horus and was sealed in a secret tomb at the Valley of the Kings. Semerkhet's role here was not to merely observe proceedings but he had an active part in sealing Set away by activating the mechanisms of the sarcophagus. Also, a prophecy was set in motion. Inscribed on the amulet of Horus, Semerkhet forewarned of Set's return in a distant millennia. On papyrus, his tomb and a scroll, Semerkhet left behind messages on where to find information and how to counter Set.

The Temple of SemerkhetEdit

"The power to summon the sun god, Horus, to bind the evil Set shall only be revealed to the bearer of the amulet within the temple of Semerkhet at Karnak."
―Semerkhet[src]

Oddly, at the temple of Semerkhet at Karnak, there are statues of Set flanking the entrance to the temple. His tomb is located within the walls of this building and there awaits the Guardian of Semerkhet, a bull.

Tomb Raider: The Last RevelationEdit

FMV 03Edit

  • I Semerkhet, high priest of Horus, forewarn that he who removes the amulet shall have released Set. He who walked abroad with the jackal shall once again violate the earth.
  • Set, ruler of evil, will again be free at the turn of a distant millennia. At his heel plagues and locusts. Harvests fail under the broken skies.
  • Once called forth shall the heavens split asunder, and the light of the sun god Horus banish the lord of darkness, Set.

FMV 05Edit

  • He who removes the amulet shall once more release the dark power of Set. And Set sayeth: "I am the shadow across the sun. I am the bringer of plagues. My wrath will consume all lands and shall be ceaseless."
  • The power to summon the sun god, Horus, to bind the evil Set, shall only be revealed to the bearer of the amulet within the temple of Semerkhet at Karnak.

FMV 07Edit

  • For I have served the god of light, Horus, at the time of plagues. To read this inscription means that the ruler of darkness is free. Set is released to walk abroad amongst the mortals, enlisting his armies of the night to serve him. He who removes the amulet and releases the dark power of Set shall summon the sun god, Horus, for only the power of light will again imprison him.
  • By the power of the amulet and armour of Horus shall Set be confined for all eternity.
  • Summon the might of Horus through the light of the millennial constellations into his temple beneath the ageless pyramid, into his likeness set in stone. With his amulet and his armour he is once more poised to battle and defeat Set.

Cutscene - Library EndEdit

  • The tablet was returned to the sands that had spawned it beneath the citadel of Saladin in ancient Cairo, foretelling of the time in a distant millennia when the stars of Orion come together. The ceremony is performed and Set entombed.

TriviaEdit

  • In Ancient Egypt, Semerkhet was the sixth king of the First Dynasty and ruled around 2950 BC. The Semerkhet who appears in Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation is not likely to be the same as the real one but probably a name that was chosen to name the character.
